P.O.E.T.A., the Employment Opportunity Program through Technology in the Americas of the Organization of American States (OAS and Trust for the Americas)

We currently operate the POETA Social Franchise in the South West of Colombia. «The Social Franchise POETA (FSP) is a model of social development created by The Trust for the Americas, Foundation for the Americas, an entity affiliated with the Organization of American States, OAS, with headquarters in Washington DC., United States. Its mission is to provide tools and knowledge to organizations that promote economic and social inclusion «

«POETA is a model of social development that seeks to consolidate and strengthen a network of Technology Centers run by NGOs, public sector entities, private and academic institutions, through a methodological offer composed of resources, services and benefits for the promotion of social inclusion and the generation of economic and educational opportunities in vulnerable populations. «

The Social Franchise POETA (FSP), is born from the banner program «Program of Economic Opportunities through Technology in the Americas (POETA), program of The Trust for the Americas, in order to replicate and expand this model of successful practices and of great social impact, in a standardized way so that a larger number of organizations can offer their participants: resources, services and high quality benefits in the Americas.

COGNITIVE DISABILITY

This intervention is being developed in collaboration with the Tobias Emanuel Institute which aims at the Sustainable Development Goal 10: Reduction of inequalities.

It is a training program whose objective is to enhance economic opportunities and the social inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities through access, use and appropriation of ICT.

We operate from two lines of intervention:

  • The first, eminently training, through digital technologies.
  • The second, from the appropriation of technologies that come to meet certain needs of people with intellectual disabilities.
